Billy was repeatedly invited to provide evidence, answer questions, apply the same evidentiary standard to Christianity that he applies to other religions, and interact with other commenters without imposing personal religious judgments on them.
Instead, the documented conversation repeatedly returned to:
Assume Christianity is true → interpret everything through Christianity → dismiss contrary evidence as false/Satanic → cite Christianity as confirmation that Christianity is true.
By Billy's own final admission, physical evidence was never actually necessary to his conclusion:
“I was saved at 8 years old. I have never doubted the Bible.”
“I didn't need evidence of the Red Sea crossing. I already believe it happened.”
“I don't need the physical for me to believe it.”
That is faith. It is not independent verification.
Why This Matters:
This is not merely an abstract disagreement about religion. Epistemic systems that make themselves immune to correction can become deadly when they govern real-world decisions which we are currently seeing in our world today. If contrary evidence can always be dismissed as deception, evil, lack of faith, or confirmation of the belief itself, there is no reliable internal mechanism for recognizing a dangerous mistake.
In situations involving medical treatment, children, abuse, violence, or another person's autonomy, acting on an unfalsifiable conviction can produce irreversible harm. The issue is not Christianity or religious belief by itself. The dangerous mechanism is absolute certainty combined with an inability to update when reality contradicts the belief.
When that mechanism determines actions affecting human life, the consequences can be fatal. This is why this was created.
Billy said he was saved at eight years old, has never doubted the Bible, already believed its claims before examining the evidence, and does not need physical evidence to continue believing them. After this exchange, I have no reason to expect that Billy will reconsider the system he has spent his life protecting.
While someone who has proven they have no access to critical thinking may not consume this in a way that supports humanity. This content is for the person who does still contain the potential for critical thinking.
It is for those who may recognize themselves using God, Jesus, or the Bible to turn belief into “fact,” reject contradictory evidence, and call that process faith while claiming to worship “the Truth.”
May exposing what can been seen as religious psychosis help someone else recognize the constructed reality they inherited and discover what remains true when their beliefs are finally allowed to be wrong.
This pattern does not remain confined to abstract theology. Beliefs shape perception, judgment, fear, relationships, decisions, and physiological responses to perceived threats and abuse and harm innocent people every day.
When a brain repeatedly organizes experience around fear, judgment, punishment, shame, or unquestionable certainty, those processes can affect psychological and physiological wellbeing. The danger is not merely believing something false. It is losing a reliable mechanism for discovering that it is false while continuing to organize one's life, body, and treatment of other people around it.
1. FALSE/MISLEADING CLAIM: “We have eyewitness accounts” of the resurrection
Billy repeatedly treated the New Testament's reports of resurrection appearances as though we possess straightforward firsthand eyewitness documents establishing the resurrection.
That overstates what the evidence establishes. A text reporting that witnesses existed is not automatically itself a firsthand eyewitness account.

His own Bible requires truthfulness:
Ephesians 4:25: “putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour.” (Bible Gateway)
Proverbs 12:22: “Lying lips are abomination to the LORD.” (Bible Gateway)
2. FALSE CLAIM: Human genetics traces humanity to one father and one mother about 6,000 years ago
Billy claimed Y chromosomes lead to “one Daddy 6000 years ago” and a maternal lineage to “one Mother” approximately 6,000 years ago.
He later connected a male-line bottleneck to Noah's three sons.
Those are not what “Y-chromosomal Adam,” “mitochondrial Eve,” or population bottlenecks mean. Common genetic ancestors were not necessarily the only humans alive, were not necessarily contemporaries or partners, and these concepts do not scientifically establish biblical Adam, Eve, Noah, or Noah's sons.
Repentance Could Look Like.. Retract the scientific claim unless credible genetic research actually supports the specific conclusion being asserted.
Again, Billy's own standard should be:
Proverbs 12:17: the person speaking truth “sheweth forth righteousness,” contrasted with false witness. (Bible Gateway)
3. UNSUBSTANTIATED CLAIM: Red Sea chariot wheels prove the Exodus
Billy claimed chariot wheels had been discovered and dated to the Exodus period.
Even finding an ancient Egyptian object underwater would not, by itself, demonstrate:
object → Pharaoh's army → Exodus → supernatural sea crossing → Yahweh caused it.
Each inference requires evidence.
Repentance Could Look Like..Produce independently authenticated archaeological evidence connecting the artifacts to the biblical event, or stop presenting the connection as established fact.
4. UNSUBSTANTIATED CLAIMS: melted sand, Sodom's sulfur, Jericho, the Flood, plagues, etc. prove biblical supernatural events
Billy repeatedly moved from:
“Something exists”
to
“therefore the biblical supernatural explanation caused it.”
Those propositions are different.
A destroyed ancient city does not by itself demonstrate divine destruction. Sulfur does not establish Sodom. Ancient Egyptian material does not establish the ten plagues. Geological formations do not automatically establish Noah's global Flood.
Repentance standard: Separate archaeological/geological observations from the supernatural interpretation placed upon them.
5. CIRCULAR REASONING: “The Bible proves the Bible”
Billy said:
“the Bible has stood the test and has proven itself every time. the God of the Bible said so.”
That is the clearest example in the entire thread.
Claim: The Bible is God's word.
Evidence offered: The Bible says God revealed himself.
Why trust that? Because the Bible is true.
The conclusion is contained in the premise.
When challenged to test other religions fairly, Billy eventually supplied his test:
“if it isn't Christ it is false.”
That isn't a test capable of discovering Christianity is false. Christianity wins by definition.
6. DOUBLE STANDARD: Christian spiritual experiences count; competing experiences don't
Billy appealed to answered prayers and personal salvation as evidence:
“I know he is alive. He saved my Soul…”
When confronted with comparable experiences in other religions, Billy suggested Satan could explain them.
So:
Christian experience → God → Christianity confirmed.
Non-Christian experience → possibly Satan → Christianity confirmed.
Every possible result preserves Christianity.
That makes the belief effectively unfalsifiable under the method Billy presented.
7. CONTRADICTION: “Everyone has the same opportunity” vs. God determines drawing, mercy and hardening
Billy said everyone has the same opportunity and unbelief is ultimately “on you.”
Yet the passages discussed in the thread include:
John 6:44: coming to Jesus requires the Father's drawing.
Matthew 11:27: revelation of the Father occurs to whom the Son wills to reveal him.
Romans 9:16: Paul explicitly says it is not ultimately dependent upon human willing.
Romans 9:18: God has mercy on whom he wills and hardens whom he wills.
Billy simultaneously argued that salvation depends upon God's action and blamed unbelievers for simply refusing an equally available opportunity.
At minimum, that theological tension requires an argument. Repeating “you keep rejecting him” does not resolve it.
8. CLAIM ABOUT JACOB CONTRADICTED BY THE PASSAGE HE WAS DISCUSSING
Billy said:
“he chose Jacob. because Jacob had faith.”
Yet Romans 9 explicitly places God's choice before Jacob and Esau had done good or evil.
That directly conflicts with the explanation Billy supplied.
Repentance Could Look Like.. Correct the claim rather than forcing the passage to conform to a predetermined theology.
9. “Nasty mouth”: policing another commenter instead of answering them
Another commenter raised substantive questions about atonement.
Billy responded:
“wow nasty mouth.”
He then returned to preaching salvation rather than directly answering the questions being asked.
This became particularly relevant because Jena had already been trying to establish boundaries around how Billy interacted on her page.
The New Testament standard Billy professes includes gracious speech. The Golden Rule requires treating others as one would want to be treated. (Bible Gateway)
10. “What a lady”: imposing a gendered behavioral standard on Jena
Billy wrote:
“wow what a lady posting such a nasty song. hope you feel better.”
Whatever Billy intended, “what a lady” introduces Jena's gender into a moral criticism of her behavior.
Jena had not agreed to Billy's religious or gendered behavioral standards.
Repentance Could Look Like..Address an argument without imposing an unsolicited standard for how a woman should behave.
11. “You better be worried”: using Billy's theological punishment framework against someone who rejects it
Billy wrote:
“it's eternity you better be worried about feeling safe.”
Within Billy's theology, that may be intended as a sincere warning.
Outside that theology, however, it does not constitute evidence that the threatened consequence exists. Repeating the consequence cannot establish the premises necessary for believing it.
The distinction matters:
“My religion teaches judgment” = accurate description of a belief.
“Therefore you personally should fear that judgment” = assumes the religion's truth.
12. Jena explicitly withdrew “friend.” Billy continued the framing.
Billy repeatedly used “friend.”
Jena explicitly responded:
“Do not call me friend.”
Once someone rejects a relational label, continuing to impose it does not make the relationship friendly.
The relevant Christian standard is unusually simple:
Matthew 7:12: treat others as you would want them to treat you. (Bible Gateway)
THE CENTRAL ISSUE:
Billy's final comments effectively resolve the evidentiary dispute.
He said:
“I chose to see God through Faith.”
Then:
“I have never doubted the Bible.”
Then:
“I already believe it happened.”
Then:
“I don't need the physical for me to believe it.”
That means the evidence Billy presented was not functioning as the basis from which he reached Christianity.
He began with Christianity.
He believed the biblical events occurred.
He then interpreted archaeology, genetics, personal experiences, other religions, unanswered objections and competing evidence through that prior commitment.
That is exactly the methodological problem Aaron had been identifying throughout the thread.
CONDITIONS FOR CONTINUING
Billy does not have to become an atheist, abandon Jesus, or agree with Jena.
He would need to do something much simpler:
Correct demonstrably inaccurate factual claims. Stop presenting disputed claims as established facts. Distinguish faith from evidence. Stop using the Bible's authority as proof of the Bible's authority. Apply comparable evidentiary standards to Christianity and competing religions. Respect explicit interpersonal boundaries. Address people's arguments without moralizing about their gender or language. And acknowledge uncertainty where evidence does not establish the conclusion.
That would also bring the interaction substantially closer to Billy's own professed scriptural standard: “putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour.” (Bible Gateway)
Reason: continued participation would simply reproduce the same circular argument after the evidentiary standard and interpersonal boundary have already been explained repeatedly.
